UKRL’s leadership team has a wealth of business, finance, professional engineering and railway experience that can be relied upon to deliver the best results for its customers.
Gareth joined UKRL to lead the company following twenty years within the rail industry.
Having spent much of his career at OEM’s Bombardier and Hitachi Rail, he brings broad experience from across the entire product life-cycle, with a particular emphasis on leading service and maintenance business units.
Gareth believes that a service organisation can only thrive with great people. He strives to enable and empower the team to deliver and add value for UKRL’s customers.
Outside of work, Gareth is an avid drummer and live music lover.
Gareth joined UKRL in 2021. Gareth joined UKRL from the Wabtec Corporation in 2021, where he was Financial Controller and Projects Controller, overseeing the Cost to Complete and project reporting process across various business units. Previous to that he worked for one of the big four accountancy practices, supporting his client’s businesses in Audit, Tax and Advisory Services.
At UKRL he now leads the finance function of the business.
Alan has over 37 years’ experience managing, developing and leading large multi-disciplined teams to deliver results within the rail industry, in particular fleet and depot management.
Starting with UKRL in 2013 Alan has a proven ability in many key roles within Virgin/Cross Country, LNER, ATW, London Midland and latterly Head of Engineering at DCR.
Alan handles major initiatives and projects with key customers for UKRL.
Chris joined UKRL in Feb 2022 bringing with him over 36 years’ experience working within the rail Industry with a strong background of project management and sales. He has vast experience in all aspects of the delivery of locomotive and passenger rail vehicle projects including scheduled maintenance, repairs, refurbishment/overhaul and the introduction of engineering modifications.

Jamie joined UKRL in 2014. He has a breadth of experience, having held roles in production, planning and material supply functions. Now, as UKRL’s Traincare Manager, Jamie ensures that our customer’s trains enter traffic each day in a clean and safe condition for the comfort of their passengers.
Prior to joining UKRL in 2022, Scott spent 16 years at Brush Traction (Wabtec) working in multiple production and operational roles across the business, on various classes of locos and vehicles.
He brings with him experience of planning, production engineering, lean implementation and production management.
Scott now leads the planning and production functions at UKRL.
Since early beginnings as a technician apprentice in York Steve brings over 4 decades of rail industry experience to UKRL.
Having held senior positions in manufacturing, maintenance and rolling stock leasing sectors he went on to establish his own management consultancy in 2012. Steve is passionate about customer service and working alongside people at all levels within business.
Previously a Board member with Vivarail, RISAS and a Local Authority, Steve now serves on the UKRL Board as a Non-Executive Director.
Interests away from work include restoration of classic cars and playing squash which he does on the European Masters circuit.
