UKRL has invested heavily in a comprehensive Traincare service. We are able to provide overnight cleaning, service checks and a CET facility capable of servicing multiple units. The site is also equipped with a modern 150,000-litre, four station re-fuelling facility offering consumables such as coolant and engine oil.
Our skilled technicians undertake daily service exams and perform mission critical defect rectification to maintain a high performing fleet.
Field Support Services
Our skilled team of field support staff are deployable across the UK to undertake maintenance, repairs and recovery with agility and care. Our experience spans both planned programmes of support and incident response.
Heavy Maintenance & Fleet Upgrades
We have the capabilities to offer a range of heavy maintenance (level 5), modification and refurbishment services. Our facilities and experience to deliver:
- Locomotive overhaul and heavy maintenance activity
- Passenger stock overhauls (C4,C6 etc.)
- Interior refresh programmes
- Vehicle paint and relivery
- Modification and upgrades (such as ETCS, PRM and decarbonisation)

Light Maintenance & Spares Supply
Our Midland mainline connected site in Leicester is fully equipped to deliver full level 1-4 light maintenance. UKRL’s skilled team of technician have experience across a wide range of stock types. We’re able to offer both contracted and ad-hoc support in planned maintenance, defect diagnosis and rectification. We also provide spares supply, storage, obsolescence and float management capability to suit your needs.
Component Overhaul & Repair
Our capabilities to undertake component overhaul and repair is rooted in a skilled and experienced knowledge base. Our team have deep understanding of how best to undertake repairs, overhauls and reliability improvements to maximise component performance.
